About the Academy
Discernment without paranoia
Most people can describe manipulation in the abstract. Far fewer can recognize it in the moment, when a request comes from someone they like, a deadline is ticking, or a sales pitch sounds reasonable.
The Academy treats recognition as a skill. You work through realistic situations, explain your reasoning, receive feedback, and repeat at increasing difficulty. Just as much effort goes into avoiding false alarms: many scenarios contain honest persuasion or ordinary disagreement, and some don't contain enough information to judge at all.
We never claim certainty about another person's private motives. The aim is simpler and more useful: to notice pressure, weigh the evidence, and make your own decision.
